Prime Minister's Award 2017

Rajeevika and IIT Bombay had undertaking a Solar Urja Lamp Project in Dungarpur, Rajasthan in 2016-17.  In this unique initiative, four cluster level federations of Dungarpur block were partnered with, and the local SHG women were trained and employed to assemble and provide solar study lamp to school-going students and their mothers. Around 40,000 lamps were distributed in a period of 6 months. It is noted that this initiative (solar lamp assembly and distribution) by the Cluster Federations received the 2017 Prime Minister’s award under Innovation Category.  Further, a corpus fund was created through assembly and distribution of solar study lamps and invested to start solar manufacturing facility.
